To MA or not to MA

A friend of mine wants to take her MA (Master's degree) while working. The trouble is her parents and partner are discouraging, saying she doesn't need it and that she's okay with her job. But knowing her, she wants to do it for herself to be better.

So, should she follow her gut feel to pursue a master's degree or not?
