Community Guidelines
Parent Talk is a space for parents, caregivers, and families to ask questions, share stories, and support one another through every stage of parenting. We want this to feel like a safe, thoughtful, and inclusive community for everyone—so please keep these guidelines in mind when joining the conversation.
1. Absolute Right to Moderate
To protect our members and maintain a safe space, Parent Talk reserves the absolute right to moderate the forum as we see fit.
- We may edit, restrict, move, or delete any post, comment, or thread without prior notice.
- We reserve the right to issue warnings, temporarily suspend, or permanently ban any user account that violates these guidelines or disrupts the community.
- The decisions of the Parent Talk moderation team are final.
2. Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Harassment
Be kind, respectful, and constructive in every interaction. Every parent’s journey is different; respond with sincerity, understanding, and compassion.
- No Bullying: Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, doxxing, or personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban.
- Respectful Disagreement: It’s okay to disagree—different parenting experiences and perspectives are welcome here. However, you must discuss with empathy and respect. Do not attack, mock, or dismiss other members.
3. Privacy & Safety
Protect your privacy and the privacy of others when posting in the forum.
- Please do not share private or personal information—whether your own or someone else’s. This includes exact home addresses, phone numbers, personal email addresses, specific school details, or any highly identifying information about your family.
- Do not share screenshots of private direct messages without the explicit consent of the sender.
4. Posting Etiquette and Content Rules
- Search First: Before starting a new thread, please use the search bar first to check if your question or topic has already been discussed. This helps keep conversations organized and easy to find.
- Stay on Topic: Keep your posts and replies relevant to the thread so discussions remain helpful to everyone following along.
- No Shouting: Please avoid using ALL CAPS, as it can come across as aggressive.
- No Spam or Unauthorized Promotion: Avoid spamming, duplicate posts, or unsolicited promotional content. Do not use the forum to sell personal items, solicit funds, or post unauthorized affiliate links.
- Do Not “Game” the Reward System: We love rewarding our active members with ranks and vouchers. However, posting low-effort replies, spamming, or upvoting alternate accounts solely to increase your rank is strictly prohibited and will result in a rank reset or account ban.
- Prohibited Content: Do not post explicit material (NSFW), sexually explicit content, graphic violence, illegal content, or material that infringes on someone else’s intellectual property (copyrights/trademarks).
5. Sensitive Topics
Parenting conversations can be deeply personal. If you’re starting a discussion around sensitive topics—such as miscarriage, pregnancy loss, infertility, mental health, postpartum depression, or birth trauma—please include a [Content Warning] or [Trigger Warning] at the beginning of your post. This gives other parents the option to choose when and how they engage with the conversation.
6. Direct Messaging
Direct messaging is welcome and encouraged for one-on-one support or private conversations.
- Please remain polite, respectful, and mindful when messaging other members. Unsolicited promotional messaging is considered spam.
- If you receive inappropriate messages or experience uncomfortable interactions, please report them to the moderation team immediately.
7. Reporting Concerns
If you see a post, comment, or direct message that violates these guidelines, please do not engage with the user. Instead, report it directly to the Parent Talk moderation team. We’re here to help keep the community safe, supportive, and welcoming for everyone.
